Nourishing Lives. Empowering Communities.

We work with families and farmers to fight hunger, boost nutrition, and build sustainable livelihoods.

In arid and semi-arid regions of Kenya, food insecurity remains a persistent challenge due to recurring droughts, climate variability, and limited access to agricultural inputs. At ATO, we believe that food security is not just about availability, but also access, utilization, and stability. Our Food Security Program is designed to address both the immediate and long-term nutritional needs of vulnerable communities, with a focus on resilience-building and sustainability.

Our Activities Include:

We distribute food baskets and nutritional supplements to vulnerable families, especially during droughts, floods, or displacement crises.

ATO trains farmers in sustainable agricultural practices, including conservation agriculture, agroforestry, drought-resistant crops, and integrated pest management.

We promote kitchen gardens and small-scale irrigation to support household nutrition and dietary diversity, particularly for mothers and children.

Establishing local storage facilities to reduce post-harvest losses and support food availability during lean seasons.

Raising awareness on balanced diets, food preparation, and proper child feeding practices through community outreach and mother-to-mother support groups.

“The Time to Act is Now”

Our food security initiatives have improved the nutritional status of hundreds of households and equipped communities with the knowledge and tools to sustain themselves amidst climatic and economic challenges.
