Empowering People. Transforming Lives.

We support communities with skills, tools, and opportunities to achieve sustainable livelihoods and economic independence.

Poverty and economic exclusion are major barriers to self-reliance in Kenya’s marginalized regions. ATO’s Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment Program focuses on providing the skills, resources, and opportunities necessary for individuals and communities to improve their economic status and resilience

  • Vocational Skills Training: Offering youth and women training in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, mechanics, and ICT, followed by job placement or business start-up support.
  • Entrepreneurship Development: Providing business development services including mentorship, business planning, and financial literacy.
  • Microfinance & Savings Groups: Supporting Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and linking them with formal financial institutions for access to credit.
  • Livestock Management: Training on animal health, pasture management, and supporting access to veterinary services in pastoral communities.
  • Market Linkages: Facilitating access to local and regional markets for agricultural and artisanal products through value chain development.

Impact:

This program has empowered hundreds of individuals—especially women and youth—to earn a livelihood, reduce dependency, and invest in the well-being of their families and communities.
