From Conflict to Community.

Together for Peace and Justice.

We foster dialogue, inclusion, and understanding to create lasting harmony and social cohesion. We work to protect human dignity, encourage dialogue, and bridge divides through inclusive peacebuilding efforts.

Join us in promoting nonviolence, equity, and human rights in communities affected by conflict and division.

Peace Starts with Us.

Conflict and insecurity, often fueled by competition over resources, have long hindered development in many pastoralist regions of Kenya. ATO’s Peace Building Program promotes social cohesion, conflict transformation, and inter-community cooperation through inclusive dialogue and empowerment.

Our Activities Include:

  • Inter-Community Peace Dialogues: Facilitating structured peace meetings involving elders, youth, women, and local authorities to resolve disputes and build trust.
  • Youth Engagement: Training young people as peace ambassadors and supporting youth-led initiatives that foster collaboration across communities.
  • Peace Committees: Establishing and strengthening local peace committees to monitor tensions, mediate conflicts, and promote reconciliation.
  • Conflict-Sensitive Development: Ensuring that all ATO projects integrate conflict sensitivity to avoid exacerbating tensions.
  • Advocacy and Policy Engagement: Engaging stakeholders to influence policies and frameworks that promote peace and address root causes of conflict.

Impact

Our peacebuilding efforts have helped reduce local conflict incidents, fostered community dialogue, and supported the peaceful coexistence of historically divided groups.
